Destination Weddings
How many times have you dreamt of having the ‘Shaandaar’ wedding away from the mundane receptions in the banquet and the irritating guests popping every now and then? Be it the exotic beaches of Goa, the enchanting mountains of Mussoorie, or a royal palace in Udaipur; Destinations weddings have always been romantic. Tying you’re not in the midst of grace is an icing on the cake.
Here are nine reasons to go for a destination wedding:
1. An Inexpensive Experience
Surprisingly enough, still many perceive destination weddings an irksome and expensive business, something exclusively for the rich. Contrary to such preconceived notions, destination weddings are much more cost-effective than our big fat Indian wedding. Pampering your ‘lovely guests’ won’t be much of a bothering in the beaches and mountains!
2. No More Theatrics From the Family!! (Perhaps MELODRAMA!!)
An Indian wedding without melodrama is quite hard to imagine. There is got to be someone in the family to create a nuisance about the ‘groom’s Sherwani’ or the ‘bride’s make-up’. Perhaps setting a vacation for these chaps would be a better option!
3. No More Questionnaires From Aunties!!!
The most irritating of all the features of Indian Wedding is our very own uncles and aunties. They are the ones who will miss no opportunity to take a jibe at us. Destination weddings literally offer you to fly away from such annoying guests.
4 Experience serenity and ecstasy
How about letting someone else (maybe a wedding manager) take care about the trifles while you plan some exciting gifts and surprises for your fiancé at Wedamor!
Exactly what such destination weddings offer. Watch the classic ‘Father of the bride’ and you will find out.
adeptweddingphotography.com[/caption]
5. A quality experience with quality people
To me, perhaps one of the biggest advantages of such weddings is that not many will turn up! This means you enjoy quality time with people who matter the most. There’s nothing superficial. Imagine indulging in a glass of wine by a mountain and reliving the youthful experience with your school friends!

6. You are the one to call the shots!
How about wedding at the same spot where he handed you the rose or the trip where you fell in love. Yes, locations are significant specially when you have memories to back it up. So why not take it upon yourself to choose the destination? Anything from the tranquil stretches of backwaters and houseboats in Kerala to the City Palace of Udaipur! Adorable isn’t it?
[caption id="attachment_1175" align="alignnone" width="700"]angelicapeady.com
8. Honeymoon’s inclusive!
Once the guests leave, you won’t perhaps mind a few extra days in there exclusively with your beloved. An early honeymoon sounds pretty exotic, eh? What is more, honeymoon costs will be minimized.
9. An experience of a lifetime!
Can there be anything better than your close ones celebrating you and your love? Believe it or not, it remains a one of the wonderful experience to travel with all your loved ones, treat friends and family alike, enjoy unforgettable memories and back it up with some amazing clicks.
[caption id="attachment_1174" align="alignnone" width="700"]brides.com
So, this is your chance. Forget the traditional marriage and choose your favorite destination to celebrate the most cherished festival of your lifetime in the most enriching way. And oh yes, don’t forget to look up at Wedamor to make your wedding planned and organized better and turn it into a magical occasion.
That’s it from my side, folks. Do hook on to Wedamor for some amazing articles on wedding coming your way soon.

A Cup of Coffee With Sahyujyah Shrinivas at LibeRent
Running an enterprise needs efforts but nothing as compared to starting it. With the throat cutting competition in the contemporary market, Innovation is a pre-requisite for anything to taste the fruit of success! Tackling along the hurdles on the way is another story. Today, we have such a personality with us who not only had a brilliant and inventive idea, but the courage and determination to materialize it in the finest way possible. Sahyujyah Shrinivas, the founder of LibeRent, measured a long way from being the girl with a dream to an inspirational lady in the ever competitive world. We got an opportunity to share a cup of coffee with her and converse about how she came up with the idea and weaved her path around it.
Force Behind Liberent
LibeRent is a ‘Fashion on Rent’ service in India. For a country like India, it’s rather something unconventional and not so heard of a concept. So, we asked what inspired Sahyujyah to make her career choice in the segment and how Liberent came into being. During the interaction, we learnt that she is a metallurgical engineer by profession and managed to get into a big company, Tata Steel right after she completed her engineering in 2013. Within a year she left her job and started with LibeRent.
Abhishek More joined her in 2016 after working with companies like CA technologies and Turvo.
All You Need is a Good Idea
So, after knowing about the people behind the venture, we moved on to the inspiration part and it’s as unique as the concept itself.
Sahyujyah extracted the idea from a Hollywood movie right during her college days. In the movie, the actress buys clothes, wears them with the tag and returns it the next day. Inquisitive engineer in the making, Sahyujyah didn’t leave it there. She researched about it and found out that it’s becoming a trend in the west. She was already placed by then but the idea never left her.
From Idea to Impact
A year later a typical nine to five job, she secured her finances and started working to get in touch with designers and other relevant people. Soon enough, she went back home and started off renting clothes on a small level through Facebook. She was a one ‘woman’ army then. The delivery and everything was managed by her single-handedly. She proudly announces that LibeRent has come a long way since.
Services on Offer
Since the concept is new for Indian customers, we were keen to know what services LibeRent exactly offers and how it deviates from its competitors. With her poised smile, she tells us about LibeRent, “LibeRent is an online fashion rental start-up for women. Any party or event, women no more have to worry about “what to wear”. They can just come to Liberent, filter outfits based on city, date and bust measurement, choose what they like, book it by giving their measurements. We will custom fit the outfits and deliver one day prior to their event. We pick it up a day after the event.”
Moreover, the rental period can be extended with a bit of extra charges where everything else including fitting, delivery, and pickups remain free of cost. Explaining the unique selling points (USPs) of the store, she mentions that the sizes are custom made according to given measurements and not just go by S, M, L on the site, no deposits are taken, and they are available on chat 24*7 to answer any queries.
When we asked the kind of dresses they offer, we got quite an extensive list including dresses, lehengas, anarkalis, sarees, skirts, ethnic gowns, western gowns, accessories, etc.
Quitting the 9-5 Job and Starting up Early
We were quite surprised to see a young entrepreneur managing everything with so much determination and inquisitiveness, we posed a question on why she decided to leave her job and start with an entirely new and unique concept?
Her passion for entrepreneurship instantly reflected on her face as she explained it to us. Her constant feeling of being constrained and limited, thanks to our society, made her realize the need to break free and she found LibeRent to be a powerful source to do so. Further, she adds, “I’m a big believer in freedom. I believe renting gives freedom while owning bogs us down. So rental market fit my philosophy too. LibeRent means Liberation + Rent since we believe renting gives freedom. Also, our onsite chat is called Liri, meaning Freedom in Hebrew”.
Rental Cycle
To know more about the working of the store, we showed interest in knowing the typical rental cycle for a particular garment. Explaining the mechanism, she told us that in Bangalore, women can place orders for events the same day or the next day. In Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, women can place orders for events the next day night or anytime post that. In other cities, the enterprise needs a 2 days heads up before the event.
The dress is delivered on the event date by noon if the order was placed too close to the event, but in general, it is delivered one day before the event date. Every outfit is steamed before shipping and after the event, it is collected back and sent to their organic dry cleaning partners.

Face to Face With the Challenges
After discussing a lot about the business we moved to the other important perspective behind the existence and survival of the venture. Undeniably, India is a male dominated country and rising up of a women entrepreneur takes some courage along with all other things. We asked Sahyujyah Shrinivas about the struggles and challenges she faced while setting up and running the business. She chuckled and said she can go on and on about this. After a nostalgic throwback for a moment she got back to us and told us about the issues she had to face as an ambitious woman in the country.
She explained the three chief problems she faced during the journey. The first was to break free from the middle-class conservative family environment and convincing her parents to quit a well-paying job and start something like this. Second, raising funds and meeting all the wrong people before the right ones. She also had to come across male egos that challenged and doubted her will and determination. Lastly, she mentioned her ongoing battle for establishing a place as a leader within the team and to others who are in some way related to LibeRent.
As a woman, she says, “We will have to go through a lot of issues, fights, sleepless nights, etc. before we figure out how to handle ourselves in a very condescending and male dominated world when our goal is to be on top.”
Journey of a Thousand Miles and Future Plans
As the conversation was getting comfortable, we realized that we already had the last sip of our coffee. So, the interview came to an end with one last question about the journey so far and her future plans. Here goes the excerpt:
“Journey has been incredible. It’s been so many downs and a few ups. We have had to go through a lot of tough times, but those few successes are totally worth it. Future is bright for us. We are building a new market segment, a blue ocean, so the initial stages will be difficult, but we have already started seeing the compounding effect and the future from here is something we are very much looking forward to. We are increasing our inventory. Signing up with the designers, small to big, anyone who wants to use their stock for marketing and generating additional revenue or people who want to be marketed and reach a wider audience. The App is in the brewing. We are soon launching our subscription services. Women can sign up for a free 1-month subscription as part of our promotion campaign. For this, they can ping us on our site, call us or reach out to through our Facebook or Instagram pages. We are also launching plus size outfits as well very soon.”

Amazing Ways to Replace the Old Ghodi Tradition
Since the time called ever, the perspective groom comes on a horse to carry away his bride. Ghodi tradition found its way into numerous songs and couplets for the same reason. However, with changing time, this tradition is becoming obsolete too. The legendary Ghodi tradition is now being replaced by cool, spicy ones. If you too want to ditch the ghodi, then here are some awesome ways for the groom to make a grand entry to the wedding:
Royal Entry on an Elephant
We are talking about an elephant here, so it’s definitely going to be grand. Besides, elephants are such sweet and royal creatures that they will add a dash of royal charm to your wedding. Get the elephant all decked up to match your wedding suit and complement it. You can also add a bright umbrella on top of it because Hey! nothing mediocre is going to do for your big day! Forget the ghodi tradition, start your own ‘haathi’ tradition!
Up the Swag With a Speed Boat or Yacht Entrance
Remember the second installment of the Hangover movie series? If you do, then you will agree that the speedboat entry that they made towards the end was one of the highlights of the movie. Now, don’t get any wild idea and gatecrash your own wedding and put the lives of those around you in danger, but making a sexy entry on a speedboat (and applying the brakes at the right time) will surely make people talk about it all year or maybe lifelong. You can totally ditch the ghodi tradition for a speedboat baraat!

Let Vintage Cars Do The Talking
Vintage cars exude class like nothing else. They stand on their own and can draw eyeballs whenever you get the wheels rolling. Put behind the Ghodi tradition, and go on a ride in a vintage car for the “baraat” and you will surely leave her and everyone else impressed. You will love the traditional and classy feel of the ride too, and your wedding will surely be all the more memorable for it. Apart from the vintage cars, you can also go for a Limo ride, making your entrance all the more elegant.
Go Eco-Friendly With a Bicycle
A little out of the way? But well, we all know weddings can be really harsh on the environment. So why not ditch the cars for something that is environment-friendly? Many grooms are taking a bicycle to the bride’s place as a symbol of their support for a sustainable environment. It is not only thoughtful but a wonderful way of making your entry different from the millions of grooms across the country.
Sweep in on a Helicopter
Helicopters can never go out of style or fantasy. They will always stand for modernism and class. So, why not make use of this perfect amalgam and make a breathtaking entrance on your wedding day on a helicopter? The roar of it will drown everything else and announce the grand arrival of the groom. Make a statement with your helicopter ride this wedding season!
So, Hey! What’s up? Your wedding goals?

Candles

While candles are a very common household item/gift to give away but a customized, hand picked, beautiful candle makes a world of difference. I personally love these brightly patterned and colored candles with Indian metallic designs and prints that shout out bold and exciting. The little drops of sequins add a unique element to it and also enhance the beauty of these candles. No one will know if this is actually a candle or a great looking expensive showpiece. No one can resist loving such a multi-purpose item as a gift when searching for wedding return gift ideas for Shagun. You can also alter the design on these candles by putting the wedding couple’s name in a curvy font with metallic paint so that it becomes more personalized and memorable. Buying them in bulk would also be super cost effective and this does deserve to debut on your wedding!

These are so pretty that maybe some guest might not even want to eat it and rather laminate and keep it in their homes. (I mean I would really do that). Jokes apart, these cookies are great as a gift to give and each one of them can be wrapped in these tiny metallic design covered pyramid boxes. They will add more glamour and excitement when handed to the guests. Moreover, they will be surprised to open it and find something more beautiful that is also edible. Do consider keeping this as among your wedding return gift ideas for Shagun if you love food as much as I do… haha.
Sweet Cone Treat
There is one more addition to the sweet treat for your guests. The mehndi cone symbolizes the importance of the “Mehandi” in the wedding and it also is a creative way of packing something people relish- small candies, dry fruits and so on. They can be labeled with the couple’s name and any addressing words if there are any to make it personalized and thought through. The color scheme of the ribbons and decorations on the cone can match that of the typical wedding colors like bright red, gold, mustard, royal blue and more. This will be a simple but effective Shagun that your guests will adore.
There are many little gifts out there that can be chosen which can be even more personal to the couple. For example, something special and particular that portrays the kind of state or place they have lived in or something that defines their bond and love can be chosen. For every couple, this different personalized thing will be an idea they come up with by watching their surroundings. However, these are some ideas which can be used as a very generic but unique when wondering over or shopping for wedding return gift ideas for Shagun.

The Best 4 Designers For Bridal Lehengas Under 1 Lakh
Tired of looking at bridal designer lehengas which are way out of your budget? Well, me too. It’s not everyday that one gets married. But spending a ton of money on a single lehenga can pinch quite a bit.
If you are a bride to be getting married in 2018 and want some fresh designer ideas, this post is the one for you. I have been searching for budget designers through my Wedding Blog Frugal2Fab for quite some time now. After a detailed research, these 4 lehenga designers are my top picks for bridal lehengas under 1 lakh.
Best Designers For Bridal lehengas Under 1 Lakh
To give you an idea, some of these designers even make lehengas in the range of under 40k, 50k, 70k and so on. So, depending on your budget you now know what your designers options can be.
#1 Rianta’s is the Best Mid-Range Budget Designer
Rianta’s tops my list because you can find lehengas in her collection even in the 30-40k range. Just like you, I am all for budget-conscious shopping for wedding and prewedding wear. Off late, a lot of otherwise budget designers have suddenly skyrocketed their prices, and it’s nice to see budding designers come up on the radar.
Whether it is casual, semi-casual, or bridal, Rianta’s offers a lot of options. My current favourites are their peplum choli lehengas. They look super cute and are perfect for those prewedding functions and even for the sister of the bride to wear on the wedding day.
You can also shop online for Rianta’s outfits on Pernia’s Pop Up Shop.
Price Range of Rianta’s Lehengas: Starting from 25k upwards
#2 Natasha Dalal is Perfect For Your Reception Party Outfit
It’s such a joy when one comes across designers whose designs are instant love. Natasha Dalal is one such new designer on the block. Her name has come up mostly in connection to Varun Dhawan since Sonam Ki Shaadi. But for once, I wish the rumour mills spoke more about the young designers’ talent instead.
Pastels are ruling for a while now. In this designers collection, her signature style is modern glamour with timeless sophistication.
Natasha’s designs are set apart by their romantic silhouettes and exquisite detailing featuring embroidered laces, delicate beading, featherweight tulle and rich silks. Her signature is to combine craftsmanship and opulent work with modern lines making her customers look and feel nothing short of glamorous.
You will find silk lehengas with 3d floral detailing. Also, a careful integration of pearls and beads all over her outfits. From gowns to cold shoulders, crop top skirts and more…her taste is very feminine. But she keeps it young and trendy.
The gorgeous soft colours with the intricate detailing are perfect for those pre-wedding functions like engagement, cocktail, sangeet and even for bridesmaids outfits.
Price Range of Natasha Dalal Lehengas: Starting from 45k upwards
#3 Pleats Mumbai is Perfect for the Modern Bride
Pleats is a company by sister duo Kaksha and Dimple Purohit. Their brand stands for pastel hues and indo-western silhouettes. Specialising in lehengas and newly in bridal wear. Their style is all about the drapes, and dazzling look altogether.
If there is one word to define their collection, I would say it’s whimsical. Beautiful printed textures in fluid, romantic minimal embroidery. If you are not a fan of flared over the top lehengas, want something simple yet beautiful, then Pleats Mumbai is the label for you.
My favourite from their collection is the Mustards and Grey lehengas. These colours are trending this wedding season, and are perfect to wear from morning to evening functions. Whether you are the bride or the sister of the bride/groom, these outfits will make you look ravishing.
The label imbibes ethnic aesthetics with modern influences with a rich use of delicate embroideries and intricate handwork. A variety of silhouettes and categories of products are created with one singular concept of elegance and feminine appeal.
Also available in their collection is a beautiful royal blue lehenga with the baby pink dupatta. It is the perfect pick for a spring summer wedding.
Price Range of Pleats Mumbai Lehengas: Starting from 50k upwards
#4 AsoPalav has Beautiful Budget Lehengas for the Traditional Bride
AsoPalav is an Indian Bridal & Silk store based out of Gujarat. They have multiple stores both online and offline. But their main showrooms are in Surat and Ahmedabad.
I am especially a fan of their silk lehengas. They are so hard to come by. AsoPalav not only keeps monotone silk bridal lehengas, but also does nice contrasting lehengas. Their latkans and the blouse style give their outfits a royal touch while still maintaining a budget.
Recommended Read: How to chose the colour of your wedding lehenga
If you are a bride to be planning your wedding shopping in Gujarat, then this should be your first stop. The brand has everything from sarees to ethnic wear like lehengas for weddings. They also have fusion western wear for your sangeet and cocktail party. It’s like a one-stop shop. The best part is the store is not just for the bride. You can shop here with your mum and sister and find everything under one roof.
The thing I like most about this brand is its versatility in terms of prices. Whether you are a bride with a 20k budget or a 2 lakhs budget, they have something for everyone.

So here we are with yet another creative gems of the Indian wedding industry, Candid Shutters, which was born with an objective to capture the beauty of human emotions in their truest and most natural form. It’s time to unfold their interesting journey with you. Here we go:
Wedamor – Pleasure to have you at Wedamor, let’s start by knowing a little about the driving force behind Candid Shutters and how it came into existence?
Candid Shutters – CandidShutters was born as an expression of creativity. Guided with a single objective of capturing all things beautiful, this artistic venture started its journey.
We believe that weddings are a path defining phase of an individual’s life; the flood of emotions and beautiful memories that a wedding creates is rare, truly overwhelming and heart warming. Hence, weddings serve as a perfect platform for us to satiate our creative juices and allow us a cathartic experience.
A brainchild of Pranjal Kumar, a BITS Pilani, and NMIMS Mumbai alumnus, CandidShutters served as a perfect platform for him to express his creativity. Being deeply inclined towards movie making since his early childhood days, Pranjal rejoiced the art of storytelling.
Determined to turn his dreams into a living reality, it didn’t take him long to muster up the courage after his MBA from NMIMS Mumbai and chuck up a successful corporate career. CandidShutters became a perfect amalgamation of his business skills and the creative interests that rested in Pranjal’s heart. Thus was born a venture that aims at capturing the beauty of human emotions in their truest and most natural form.
Wedamor – Being from a technical background, what inspired you to try professional photography and make it a profession?
Candid Shutters – Being creatively inclined, I always loved the art of storytelling through the visual media. Photography became more of an expression of my creative juices and empowers me to showcase the beauty of the world as I experience it.
Photography is an art that requires a sound understanding of the various natural and scientific phenomena affecting its quality. The new age digital photography depends extensively on high-end equipment and a sound understanding of the science and technicalities of the equipment, lighting, the scientific basics of imagery coupled with a creative bent of mind ensure that there is a perfect union of art with science.
So, my technical background only aids me in honing my creative abilities since modern day photography and filmmaking requires a thorough knowledge of both the technical as well as the artistic aspects.

Candid Shutters – Our threefold mantra is-

While we are there to aid our clients to create soul touching stories of their lives, we do not allow our creative juices to get stifled by the checklist of expectations. We ensure that we understand their preferences properly and create a story that not just meets their expectations but is also creatively compelling and unique.
Wedamor – Which aspect of your work excites you the most?
Candid Shutters – We are all travel enthusiasts. Since weddings take us to places, we thoroughly enjoy the idea of heading to different locations in some unique corners of the Indian sub-continent to cover beautiful, heart warming wedding ceremonies. We get to mingle with a new set of people each time and experience the Indian and western culture in an entirely new way each time. It is creatively, emotionally and personally very gratifying.
Wedamor – How has the journey been so far and what are your future plans?
Candid Shutters – The journey so far has been an exciting one, though it comes with its own set of challenges.
At the end of the day, it is a very high responsibility job for your services are being hired for preserving the most important days in a family’s life. We have to exercise great caution to ensure that everything works properly for unlike movies, here there can be no retakes.
While the travel, meeting new people, creative satisfactions are immense in this field, the nature of the job requires you to keep raising your bar professionally, technically and creatively so that you are able to recreate magic each time in every wedding.
These challenges and the happy satisfied look on our clients’ faces drive us to strive harder to keep reinventing ourselves creatively and create spellbinding stories.
Having covered a multitude of weddings across the Indian sub-continent, we plan to create a strong foothold in the Middle-East and the Western markets to cater to the wedding needs of our NRI client base.
We started five years back in Mumbai, and have a fully functioning office with a dedicated team of specialists stationed there and have recently opened a full-fledged office in Delhi NCR with a dedicated team of professionals. We soon plan to open offices in other key Indian cities for a stronger and more localized presence and would be opening an office soon in Dubai.

Virat Anushka Getting Married: Is It True or Just Another False Alarm
Virat-Anushka(Virushka) is the most talked about couple in Indian celebrity circles which brings to light two of India’s favorite pastimes i.e Cricket and Bollywood together. We have seen a number of such unions in the past most notably Sharmila-Mansoor, Sangeeta-Azhar and latest ones such as Bhajji-Geeta, Yuvi-Hazel & Zaheer-Sagarika, but none as big as this one.

Virushka: Are Virat Anushka Getting Married?

Rumor Mill Working Overtime
Looking at the kind of interest this couple generated, tabloids have been keeping a tight eye on the two. They have announced their wedding dates already a couple of times now, so it would be no surprise if this turns out to be false this time also.
Image: vogue.in/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/virushka-featured.jpg
The reports say that Virat and Anushka will tie a knot in Italy in the second week of December. What has added fuel to this is Virat missing the ODI and T20 series and Anushka also on leave on these days. Apart from this, Virat’s childhood coach has also excused himself from his coaching assignment which has added to the speculation.
According to reports, the ceremony in Italy will be closed affairs attended by only the closed relatives and friends and will be followed by a grand reception in Mumbai on December 21st. The actress has been seen visiting the designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee last week which has added to speculations that she will be wearing a dress designed by him for the occasion.
Is it really happening?
While the truth about the couple’s wedding is best known to them only, the whole country is busy making guesses. The media has announced the wedding dates more than a couple of times already and we would like to keep our fingers crossed until they announce it themselves.
We wish them a very happy life if and when they decide to get married.

Ultimate Guide to Finding the Perfect Wedding dress
Are you ready to start shopping for the wedding dress and beginning to stress about it? It is true, the wedding dress is one of the most traditional elements of a wedding and what little girls’ dreams about but you don’t have to stress about finding the perfect one for you.
Here is a guide to Find a Stunning Wedding Dress
Let us help ease the tension by giving you a few insider tips on how to pick your wedding dress.
Who Should You Bring With You?
This is one of the most important decisions you will have as it can make your wedding dress shopping experience totally enjoyable or absolutely miserable. For the staff at the stores it’s really a love-hate relationship with the entourage but for the most part, they are GREAT! We know that the journey of finding the perfect wedding gown for you is emotional, exhausting, stressful, sometimes full of drama, but always totally memorable. If you choose the right friends and family members your experience will be nothing but pleasant. They will support you, encourage you, listen to your desires and allow you to quietly find the right wedding gown for your day. If you choose the wrong ones, then disaster can happen. Too many times we see friends or family members that are jealous of the Bride and want to anything to take the attention away from her. So they act hateful, boastful, loud and obnoxious. They can see you love a dress so they quickly point out something to make you second guess it or pass it by. So our advice to you, bring no more than four of your closest and most trusted friends or family members. Shopping for your wedding dress should be an experience and something you should cherish and have fond memories of. Embrace it and don’t take too seriously. Their thoughts and opinions are of course appreciated and let’s leave it at that. It’s what you love, and what “you” want your fiancé to see you walking down the aisle in.
How to Get the Best Price For Your Wedding Dress
Everyone wants to get the best price for merchandise and other things they buy in their everyday life so it is no surprise that Brides want to get the best price for their wedding gown too. Today there are thousands and thousands of wedding dress designers that range in price from the low hundreds up to and exceeding $20,000 – $30,000. Insane, I know to think that someone would pay $20,000 for a wedding dress that they will wear for approximately five hours…but I am her to tell you, it happens.
For the Bride that does not have a huge budget for the wedding there is great news! There are plenty of wedding gown designers that make affordable wedding gowns that are stylish, romantic, trendy and well made. So don’t freak out and think you will never find a wedding dress you can afford. You will! However, shopping for your wedding dress does require a little work on your part. Make sure you do a little research on the local boutiques. You don’t want to make an appointment and go try on wedding gowns only to find out they are all way over your budget. So call ahead, ask them what their price ranges are and if it falls in line with your budget, schedule an appointment.
Now that you have found a place to shop, there are many other ways for you to go about getting the best price for your wedding dress. First and probably the easiest is to just ask for a discount at the boutique. Many people don’t know this but most wedding dress designers allow boutiques to offer a small discount, usually 10% off the MSRP on their wedding gowns. Bridal boutiques do not advertise this and rarely offer it unless there is a special event happening like a trunk show. So just ask for the discount! They won’t be offended and they will probably say Yes!
The second way is to shop for your wedding dress online. You can go to your local boutique, try on gowns, find one you love and then go home and find it online cheaper. Just make sure to get all the details from the boutique so you can easily find it. You will need to know the name of the designer and the style number or name of the gown. Now I will be honest, this is something you have to be careful with because there are many websites that use the designer’s picture to promote knock-off designs that end up being terrible quality and look like rags. The general rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true it is! No authorized retailer is going to sell a Designer wedding dress for $200 if it retails in their store for $1500. There are however many reputable websites that do sell used wedding dresses for a fraction of the retail price. Check out SellMyDress.com. Many times you can save 50% and sometimes more. There are great deals to be had when buying your wedding dress. You just have to be a savvy Bride. You can even ask the boutique if they will sell you their sample and if they do generally you will get a hefty discount. Just make sure that it can be altered to fit you properly.

Remember the Most Important Opinion is Yours
Most Brides want everyone to love the dress they choose but sometimes it just isn’t possible for all opinions to line up in perfect harmony. All that should matter is that you love the gown, it feels good on your body, and it is what you want your Fiance to see walking down the aisle. If you find a dress that gives you all of that it is yours! Say Yes to the Dress and I do!

Funny Characters in Indian Weddings
Indian Weddings are like Indian Movies, they are full of drama, action, romance, tears, songs, dance, and Comedy. And wherever there is a comedy, there will be comic characters, and in this article, we are listing down some comic, funny characters in Indian weddings and no doubt they make the wedding as fun as they seem to be.
Funny Characters in an Indian Wedding
1. I Hate Everything Uncle
He would be sitting in a corner sulking all by himself about everything, from how bad the food is to how the colors of brides shoes and lipstick don’t match. He’ll literally complain about everything, even his contemporary from the other side. He might also be the most sarcastic one around and hanging around him might actually be quite entertaining.
2. Overly Fashionable
Source: Limeroad.com
It’s their first major wedding and just having attained adolescence, they are eager to show off. Hence starts the pursuit of Idiotic hairstyle, overly inlaid clothes along with excessive accessories it’ll make you wonder, are you in a marriage or in an online RPG. Everything which they’ll be wearing is branded and they take great care to make sure that everyone else knows that too. Add that to an unhealthy use of Deodorants and clichéd behavior, they are quite entertaining.
3. Excessively Dramatic Aunty
She is ready to burst up into tears at any given moment irrespective of the condition. She’ll cry while greeting relatives, she’ll cry while people would be getting ready. She’ll cry through the entire ceremony and still be able to miraculously muster up tears during Vidayi, Hats off.
4. Sharif Friends of Groom
These so-called best friends of grooms are easily one of the best actors around, they’ll be as Sanskari as they can be when any elderly is around, but their real intent is to flirt excessively with any girl apart from the bride and groom’s sister is always in play. Watching these hopeless romantics at work is a funny and entertaining experience.
5. The Drunk Dancer
Every family has these mildly alcoholic Uncle who’ll get drunk at such occasions and they will dance in the funniest way possible, and also make others dance. They’ll remember all the steps possible, from Nagin to Kite Flying. God forbid you to put on any Punjabi Song, you’ll see the inner Punjabi in them arise along with the Bollywood-inspired Bhangra. But maintain a safe distance, their intensity while dancing can be injurious to your health and physical well-being which makes them one the funny characters in Indian weddings.
6. The Chirping Bridesmaid
Imagine a place full of Barbies, all talking about fashion and hairstyle and all these things that girls talk about, in their high pitched chirpy voice. Add that to randomly laughing at lamest jokes, and gawping in unison while putting on makeup or seeing some new jewelry. They are quite an entertaining bunch.
That’s our pick for the funniest characters in the crowd. If you want to add some more funny characters in Indian weddings which you might have seen, feel free to share it in the comments section.

Celebrity Wedding Themes to Take Inspiration From ( Bollywood & Hollywood)
The best part about a celebrity wedding is that we get to see all the unique ideas, from the dress of the bride to the decors to the cake. Wedding planners are the true gems behind the exquisite celebrity wedding themes and we thought it would be fun to list some of the great ideas about these weddings for you to take even a tad bit of inspiration from!
Bollywood and Hollywood Celebrity Wedding Themes
1) Shahid and Mira
Shahid Kapoor’s Mumbai wedding reception decor was rustic, rugged and natural organic white.
My favorite part about this particular celebrity wedding theme was how it was so different from the rest of the Bollywood wedding themes. It was in every sense, an elegant and a classy wedding. From the minimal makeup of the bride to skipping the traditional reds and going for pastel shades to the perfect wedding itinerary, and everything in between. Long live elegance!

2) Aaron Paul’s Wedding, ‘Bitch’
When the ever -so- gorgeous Aaron Paul, from the ever- so- famous show “Breaking bad” got married, it was filled to the brim with romance. It was a Gatsby-Themed Hollywood wedding. Guests turned up in a 20s inspired look, including fringed frocks and opera socks. Aww!
To make things even more adorable, Aaron surprised his new wife, Lauren Parsekian, by getting all the guests to learn the lyrics to her favorite song and then getting the man who sung that song, to sing at the reception. Could you be any more adorable, Pinkman?

3) Bipasha and Karan
From the wedding décor to cake to the princess’ cut pink lehenga for the Mehendi, Bipasha has shown us her clear obsession with the color Pink.
Nothing was usual about the wedding of these ‘monkey lovers’ and here are a few examples: Instead of the little bride and groom on top of the wedding cake, this one featured two cute little monkeys spreading the monkey love and instead of going for the plain old wedding card, Bipasha and Karan went for something more fun and cute.

Oh and, Karan ditched the ghodi (female horse) and made his swag-filled entrance on a Segway! No kidding, really.
All in all, we loved the pink, monkey-obsessed wedding! The fact that there was nothing usual about it forced us into non-stop gushing about it. Maybe it’s time for you too to ditch the old traditional ways and take inspiration from the cutest celebrity wedding!

4) Guy Richie and Jacqui Ainsley
Guy Richie’s wedding is giving us serious wedding goals! No, it’s not the typical fairytale wedding. If you’re someone who loves outdoor weddings and good vibes, you might just wanna take some serious inspiration from this among our celebrity wedding themes.
The place was set into an extravaganza of tents and cabins, which fit perfectly for their festival-themed ceremony. The Hollywood wedding was held on the grounds of the couple’s Wiltshire home with guests swimming in the lake and camping in luxury tents. After the ceremony, the Guy even treated his guests to a screening of his new film “The man From UNCLE” during the celebrations.
Now, this is what I call a celebration, in the most genuine sense. I’m pretty sure this is my favorite celebrity wedding!

5) Nishka Lulla and Dhruv Mehra
How could we leave this uber stylish and chic wedding from the list? To all of those who fantasy a fairytale wedding, you’re almost certain to have a huge amount of inspiration coming your way through this typical celebrity wedding theme. Everything about this wedding is straight outta every bride’s dream starting from the most dramatic bride entry ever- in a “shikara” riding on the water holding a massive s0ft fuschia pink veil that trailed behind her to having post-wedding celebrations in Thailand. Dreamy right?
And of course, being the daughter of India’s new-age designer, Neeta Lulla, her outfits just had to steal our hearts. Could a bride ask for more? I guess not.

6) Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan
Another fairy-themed Hollywood wedding for those who are planning to have a Christian wedding. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s wedding was a pure magic. The guests were given crystals as wedding favors, an outdoor ceremony was held which was decorated with thousands of roses, hydrangeas, and orchids, there was a fairy cake, and the best part you ask? Flower girls walked down the aisle wearing wings.
Jenna Dewan’s a lucky girl to get a dream husband and a dreamy wedding!

Best Moments From Zaheer and Sagarika’s Marriage You Can’t Miss
Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge truly had a wedding to remember. One of our favorite cricketers and our very own Chak De! girl tied the knot on 23 November 2017 in a very private ceremony. With a low-key wedding but a gorgeous reception, we’re here to give you the best wedding Moments from Zaheer and Sagarika’s Marriage.
After staying tight-lipped about their relationship for long, Zaheer and Sagarika went public in April 2017 by posting a cute picture on their respective Instagram handles. It all started when he was bowled over by her gorgeous looks and she was mesmerized by his calm yet charming personality. The love story of actress Sagarika Ghatge and cricketer Zaheer Khan is nothing but a fairytale.
Special Moments From Zaheer and Sagarika’s Marriage
So we brought you some of the magical moments from Zaheer and Sagarika’s marriage which will make your day:
A Lowkey Marriage
While marriages of people belonging to different religions are still not a common sight in our country, our celebs are out there setting examples.
It is an inter-religion marriage between Sagarika who is a Hindu and Zaheer who belongs to a Muslim family. Sagarika and Zaheer said that their parents are open-minded and understand that marriage is not about marrying someone from the same religion but about marrying the right person. The couple decided to ditch the traditional wedding and opted for a court marriage attended by both families and close friends.
Sagarika looked gorgeous in a red Sabyasachi saree and silver jewelry while Zaheer wore a blush pink kurta for the ceremony.
Vidya Malvade, Sagarika’s co-star in Chak De India and a family like friend was present at the ceremony. Talking about friends who are like family, Hazel Keech was also there to join the ceremony.
The Grand Reception
Even though the marriage ceremony was private, the duo planned a grand cocktail party and a reception. A stunning reception was held for Bollywood celebs and Zaheer’s Team India colleagues on November 27 in Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba. Sagarika wore yet another stunning outfit, a golden Sabyasachi lehenga with chunky earrings and necklace. The cricketer wore a royal blue bandhgala and looked extremely handsome next to his bride.
When Bollywood-Cricket Met, Again!
Looks like the two big worlds of India – Bollywood and Cricket are suprisingly very compatible. Couples like Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra, Hazel Keech and Yuvraj Singh are beautiful examples of this. Another addition to this list is dashing the couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma who attended Zaheer and Sagarika’s Marriage Reception together.
Virat and Anushka were spotted showing some killer moves on the dance floor.
The Miss Universe was also in attendance for Zaheer and Sagarika’s Marriage and looked like a diva in a golden ensemble. Another Bollywood star to join the celebration was Sunil Shetty, who doesn’t seem to age.
Live, Laugh, Love!
Mr. Khan took to the stage to thank his guests before cutting the cake, yes! there was cake, with the message of ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ written on the cake, proving these two are the perfect match for each other. Take a note of how Sagarika hands over the first bite to her dearest hubby.
Saniya Mirza at the reception, shining like the star she is even off the court.
And everyone seemed to be having a blast, looking like royals.
A cricket full house can’t be complete without our Viru and our beloved Master Blaster.
This Party Isn’t Over Yet!
The celebrations did not stop at this reception, this party was followed by another dancing night with the couple’s friends and family. From everyone looking at their absolute best, let’s see how this fiesta went.
Sagarika looked enchantingly breath-taking in a lehenga by Falguni and Shane Peacock for the celebration. The muted lehenga was paired with ruby stone jewelry. While Zaheer chose a checkered blue blazer.
Yuvraj Singh also attended the night with wife Hazel Keech. Keeping is classy, both wore black for the cocktail party. Along with Sania Mirza who looked lovely in an emerald cold-shoulder gown.

We also caught Ashish Nehra showing off some moves at the party. Even though the images are blur, we can make out that everyone had one hell of a time.
And some more fun moments from Zaheer and Sagarika’s Marriage.
Doesn’t it look like the wedding of the year? With bang on star power and our handsome cricketers, this wedding celebration will be definitely a cherished memory for the couple as well the guests. And, we at Wedamor, wish the new couple health and love for the rest of their lives.

Wedding songs are a crucial part of such an auspicious ceremony and they often bring everyone to tears with their heart-warming music and lyrics; one such song which is winning hearts is the Groom Version of ‘Din Shagna Da’. Sung by Gaurav Kadu, this song is the male version of a popular Bollywood wedding song from the movie Phillauri.

For every couple, the wedding ceremony is an emotional journey. Many songs have been made to depict this divine occasion. ‘Din Shagna Da’ is one such song which depicts the journey from the perspective of the bride. The song was originally part of the soundtrack of a Hindi fantasy/drama film, Phillauri. This Anushka Sharma produced (and starred in) movie revolves around the story of a young man, Kanan, who is forced to marry a tree to get rid of his bad luck before he can marry his childhood sweetheart. However, Kanan ends up getting trailed by the spirit trapped in the tree and he has to set her free.
The song came into limelight through the recent Anushka-Virat wedding, when the song was played as Anushka made her entry into the wedding site. As the song is from her own movie, it created a dreamy entrance at the wedding and made a touching impact on everyone. Since then, the song is being widely played at weddings.
Groom Version of ‘Din Shagna Da’ – A Groom’s Tale
Recently, however, a Groom Version of ‘Din Shagna Da’ has been released, sung and written by Gaurav Kadu. This romantic, heart-warming song is from the groom’s side and it has taken over all North Indian weddings by storm. The song also went viral on YouTube, getting over 7 million views, as soon as it was uploaded and won hearts of many for its beautifully written lyrics. The song received a massive response from the listeners in the form of YouTube comments, thanking the singer/songwriter for the melodious song.

The chorus “Din Shagna Da, Chadya” is about the arrival of the auspicious wedding day. In literal terms, it means ‘the auspicious day has dawned’. The groom further goes on to talk about inviting friends to the courtyard and being congratulated by everyone on finding his soulmate. The song also speaks of all the festivities of the wedding, Mehendi, Sagai, Haldi, Bidai, Sangeet, and how the groom is lucky to have met his companion. Some touching metaphors and dramatic expressions involving the sky and stars also add an attractive feature to the song.
The video ends with a moving voiceover from a couple about the sanctity of their relationship. The beautiful bond of marriage and the sharing hopes and goals, the vows and promises made are spoken of in the voiceover. The words “I am proud to utter the words I do, as it tells the world, that I choose you” make the perfect ending to the song and they seem to fill the hearts of the listeners with warmth.
A Must-Play Wedding Song
The recent spotlight on the Groom Version of ‘Din Shagna Da’ made it a must-play wedding song. The male version perfectly compliments the original song and presents the emotional tale of the groom. It is winning hearts of couples this wedding season with its melodious music and heartfelt lyrics.

How to Style a Black and White Romantic Wedding Themes
With some Indian Wedding Themes following the western traditions read this blog by Andrea Fowler from “theknot.com” (a wedding planning website in U.S.A) on how to style a romantic wedding themes by giving some black white wedding theme style tips.
Style Tips for Black and White Romantic Wedding Themes
Elegant and timeless, a black and white wedding is as classic as it gets—but the thought of pulling it off can be intimidating. To make this palette a little more approachable, think of the colors as light and dark hues instead of focusing on the strong contrast. Whispers of soft pastel shades like blush pink and ice blue mixed with dark tones will make the overall aesthetic less stark.
“So many of our clients have expressed interest in trying out a black and white Romantic Wedding Themes for their weddings,” says Krista Li of Two of a Kind, a rental company based in Long Island City, New York. “We wanted to show how it can be done in an ultra-romantic way,” Li says. Boutique mirrors are to ballrooms what chalkboards are to rustic outdoor ceremonies—they add a hint of glam. And it’s much easier to track down a full-size mirror than a blackboard. 10 Best Grooming Tips For Indian Grooms
Utter the phrase ‘wedding preparation’ and it’ll throw the female fraternity into a state of frenzy. The bride along with 10 of her closest friends, cousins and siblings spend their next few months searching for the best grooming tips for brides with the single-minded determination of grooming perfectly for the big day.
Here Are the 10 Best Grooming Tips For the Indian Grooms
It may not matter as much to their male counterparts, who may start their preparations much later than their counterparts, but it does matter. No groom wants to look bad or unprepared on the big day and a certain amount of grooming is necessary.
Here are a few of the best grooming tips for Indian grooms:
1) Mind Your Face
You’ve probably never given a second thought to a pimple on your face before, or the tanning after a match of Cricket in the heat. But for once, you ought to. Sure, you’ve hired a professional photographer and he’s going to photoshop all the problems away, but you don’t want to be giving him reasons to be asking for fat tips, do you? It’s much easier to just go to the saloon and try out a recommended facial or peels. If they don’t work, ask your mother and she’s bound to come up with a magical home remedy that’ll do the trick! You can even consider going to a skin specialist to cure tanning and pigmentation.
2) Sweat It Away
Everyone, at some point in their lives, has made up their mind to go to the gym regularly. Some may even have powered through the first week. But most fail to find any motivation after a few days. It’s time now because there would rarely ever come a better motivation in your life to get up and hit the gym. Cardio exercises and a little weight training do the trick, along with a controlled diet. You don’t want to be holding your breath to look thin the entire time pictures are being clicked!
3) Facial Hair Issues
A clean shave is probably the best bet in such occasions, but most people have a favourite style of beard or moustache. Whatever it is, make sure it’s neatly trimmed and looked after. You don’t want to be looking like an engineering student writing his year-end examinations while getting married! Some have a favourite length of stubble that sets in 3 or 5 or 7 days after they shave, and some have a particular shape and love to trim it on the day of the occasion. Whatever it is, this is one of the best grooming tips you could possibly come across, so make sure you follow it.
4) Colgate Ad, is it?
Indian marriages are a huge deal and you’re going to be in the spotlight throughout the day every day. Official photographers and videographers will be doing their jobs without any rest, and at most times, you’ll feature in their work. Sure, you’re not going to want to smile after an hour or so but it’s great to keep the option open. And for that, you’ll need a set of white perfect teeth. Brushing twice a day and flossing the regular. Using a mouthwash regularly can come in handy as well. However, you might also want to get a dental checkup done, just to make sure everything is just about perfect.
5) Man-icure
Close your eyes, stop thinking and just enter that saloon! It takes 15 seconds of thoughtlessness to do so. Once you’ve entered, it should be fairly easy to ask for a manicure. During the wedding, you’re going to have to hold your to-be wife’s hands and you don’t want them to be rough and dirty. No matter how you keep them for the rest of your life, you want to ensure it looks the best on this day. It may seem over the top, but this is one of the best grooming tips and you’ll realise so on the big day!
6) Haircut
So, this one can be a little tricky. All you want to make sure is that it’s not a mess. You don’t want to be walking into the marriage looking like a ragged Ishant Sharma. We’re not saying you must cut your hair short, but that is the preferred option. However, if you’re one of those who keeps a man-bun, then you may as well keep it for the big day. Just make sure it’s neatly tied up and at its best behaviour.
7) Tame the Wild
When everything is so perfectly in order, even the smallest imperfections begin to stand out. An unkempt unibrow that you may never have noticed in your life may come up in the spotlight. A few nose hair may peek out to say hello and a little ear hair might knock on your door. As you may have rightly guessed, you’ll need to make sure these are tended to. Trim away the stray hairs and tweeze away the ones that look odd for a completely perfect look!
8) Good Food, Great Skin
There’s only so much help that a facial or a home remedy can provide to your skin. Cut the problem at a more basic cause. Eating oily food clogs up your system and spoils your skin. Resist the temptation to have oily food and stick to fresh veggies. Olive oil, Fish especially Salmon, carrots and green tea go a long way in helping to keep the skin fresh and free of pimples. This is one of the best grooming tips to follow as it not only causes the problem temporarily, it even goes on to prevent further similar issues.

9) I Need Some Spa
Don’t be shy of pampering yourself with multiple visits to the spa. Regular exfoliation and facial cleansing treatments can do you no harm. It gets rid of all the dirt and grime which can clog up your skin pores. A relaxing massage to go with it relaxes the muscles and gives your skin a radiant glow. If you don’t want to go to the spa, you can come up with alternative home remedies. A famous home remedy is a mixture of besan and malai which if applied thrice a week gives glowing skin.
10) 5 Minutes More
If you’ve followed some of the best grooming tips given above, you’re going to jumping on your bed and shouting with joy by the time you’re done reading this. Sleep! Sleep all you can. You’ve worked hard for a long time and in all the frenzy, you must not forget to complete your daily sleep requirements. It helps your skin glow and makes sure you don’t end up with baggy eyes or dark circles.
If you’ve bothered to follow us till this point, you’ve probably read enough to make sure that you look absolutely fit and fab for your big day, provided you follow the above listed ten best grooming tips. Get Your Own Personal Wedding Website At eWedding
Getting a personal wedding website (wedsites) for your wedding is the coolest trend today as almost everyone is trying it, considering the aid it offers in the planning and communication during the whole process. It can be used to communicate with wedding guest, send them the invitation, inform them about the location, time, venue etc. and also to share your gift registry with them. There are many platforms to get your wedding websites. One such platform which provides both free, as well as premium wedding websites that are not only easy to make but also gives you a whole range of options to customize your website according to your own will and choice, is eWedding.
Fortunately, we got a chance to interview Matt, the man behind eWedding and his journey so far of growing a seed into a running business. Here we go –
Wedamor – Tell us something about eWedding, the team behind, and the how the idea was conceived?
eWedding – eWedding wasn’t even planned initially! Amy and I were about to get married (all the way back in 2002) and I made a wedding website with us to share with family and friends. It was very rudimentary, nothing compared to what’s available today, but it shared our stories, photos and some details of the wedding day itself. The response we got from everyone was overwhelming, I thought “Maybe other couples could benefit from something like this!” With Amy’s encouragement, we started down this path. That was the seed that grew into the business we have today.
Wedamor – Briefly describe the services/features you are offering through eWedding and what makes you different from your competitors?
eWedding – We offer one of the easiest to use wedding website builders on the Net. Our couples don’t find it overwhelming or confusing, we built it to be as simple as possible. We also focus on quality designs, not pumping out large numbers just for the sake of numbers. We’re actually working on a whole new host of tools and are so excited to release them in the coming months. They offer more options and wedding planning organization than any tools in the market. We also offer very cool functions like real-time text messaging when your guests’ complete forms on your website, like RSVP. We have so much in the pipeline, but I can’t spill the beans yet!
Wedamor – Good to hear that. Was it difficult for you to pull couples to try the concept when you started, considering it as new and outlandish? What was the initial reaction you got from them?
eWedding – Like I mentioned earlier, the first version of eWedding came out almost 15 years ago! There were hardly any other services doing this then, so couples flocked and helped us grow extremely fast. Since then, we have had couples from nearly every country around the globe using our services. We’re so proud to be able to help so many people.
Wedamor – Why do you think couples must try and have their own wedding site (Value Proposition)?
eWedding – Wedding websites are about so much more than just a photo and some dates. We’re really building in extreme usefulness to help automate the couples planning processes and to save them time and stress. Some of those features include: Our Total RSVP system. It consists of an Open RSVP option that allows anyone to RSVP for their events or our Closed RSVP system that bases the RSVPs off the couple’s guest list. There’s nothing worse than an awkward un-invite, couples need to be able to control who sees what and which events they’re invited to (and which ones they’re not).
We’re just launching our updated registry system this month. You can link to a standard store registry like before, but so many couples are now raising funds for their honeymoons. We now give couples the option to collect money right from their wedding website to put towards honeymoons, home down payment, or any other gift they want to put it towards. The money is then deposited right to their bank account. It doesn’t get better than that, right?
Wedamor – Would you like to share some sample wedding sites (Images + links) made by users at eWedding with our audience?
eWedding – Absolutely, here’s a few sites that couples have allowed us to share:
2) happilyeverafter-souadandwalid.com
Wedamor – What has been your biggest challenge so far in starting and running eWedding?
eWedding – The only challenge we run into is time. We have so many plans and tools in the works, it just takes more time to push them out then you want. We’re nearing our major update though, so we’re all excited as we complete this massive release.
Wedamor – How has the journey been so far and what are your future plans?
eWedding – It has been awesome! How great is it to have a job where you can help young couples around the world plan for their big day! We love pushing forward as new technology allows us to offer even more planning and automation tools. We have so much to come down the line that we can’t wait to release to the couples around the world!

Knots & Vows and Their Spectacular Journey in the Indian Wedding Market
Weddings are celebrated as festivals in India with extensive colors, music, dance, costumes, rituals and decorations depending on the religion of the bride, groom, as well as their preferences. Hence, the photographers have a special role to play in capturing those precious moments for the couple as the memories will be cherished all their life. So today, we got a chance to interview the force behind Knots & Vows which is a wedding media company based in Mumbai and born in the late monsoon of 2009 and since then have captured plenty of special moments for many couples. Here goes the interview:
Wedamor – Great to have you at Wedamor, let’s start the interview by knowing a little about the force behind Knots & Vows and how it came into existence?
Knots & Vows – Jake & Alistair are the Co-Founders of Knots & Vows. We come from a strong IT background with 14+ years of collective IT experience amongst us. Knots & Vows started off way back in 2009, when we were still working in corporate offices. What started off as a hobby soon turned into a passion when we were requested to shoot concerts on weekends. It was there that we fell in love with low light photography and got introduced to photojournalism. Soon one event led to the other and somebody asked us to shoot a friend’s wedding. From there on, we never looked back and here we are 8 years later!
Wedamor – As they say, better late than never, but being from a technical background, what inspired you to try professional photography and make it a profession?
Knots & Vows – Being from a technical background, getting to know the camera always piqued our interest. We would always try to push the boundaries to know what more we could do with it. The idea of ‘Candid Photography’ was just about catching up in the Indian wedding industry. There were only a handful of people who truly believed in the idea of photojournalism. There was a clear gap in the industry for this niche skill. People were seeking this form of photography for their wedding and we fit it in comfortably. Like any new business, it was difficult initially with a steep learning curve. It was easy being a photographer, but difficult being an entrepreneur along with it. Making it a profession was a big decision for us but we knew it was the right time to take the plunge. You can’t have your feet in two different boats.
Wedamor – Indeed, moving ahead we would like to know about the services you are offering and what makes you different from your competitors?
Knots & Vows – We started off only with Photography and soon learned that the industry was looking for teams which provide all services under one roof. We then quickly expanded our team to include a lot more services.
Currently, we offer the following services:-
– Candid Photography
– Cinematic Wedding Films
– Wedding Trailers
– Pre-Wedding Photoshoots
– Pre-Wedding Video shoots
– Wedding Albums
– One Day on site film Edits
– Lip-Dub Videos
– Photobooths / Polaroid Booths
– Song Composition / Custom background music score
Having covered 300+ weddings, we passionately bring with us years of knowledge and experience. We use the best equipment in the industry to make sure that we capture moments and memories rather than just photographs.
Wedamor – You have covered a number of weddings from different parts and culture. Which one remains your favorite and why?
Knots & Vows – It is very difficult for us to select a single image as our favorite, simply because there are so many types of photographs taken at weddings, and in addition, there are the stories behind every image that make the picture special or not. Here are a few pictures we love.
1. Mehrangarh Night Shot (Vikas + Shilpa)
The fact that we hiked up a hill in the darkness of the night in Jodhpur, just to get a few shots with the majestic Mehrangarh fort in the background is a testimony to why we love this picture.
2. Suhani + Gyanesh Stairs Pic
This picture was clicked at the fag end of the Sangeet function at Suhani & Gyanesh wedding at the Wankhade Stadium Garware club. We had to make it do with just the stairs that were available for us to come up with this picture.
3. Ahuti & Rocco, reflection
This picture is from the adorable wedding of Ahuti & Rocco, which represents love across cultures, Germany & India in this case.
Wedamor – Those are absolute gems. One question that keeps coming back is how wedding photography is different from photography in general and how difficult it is to show the chemistry between the couple on camera, especially in the case of arranged marriages?
Knots & Vows – With other forms of Photography, you take your time to compose, style the subject, background, check for light and then shoot. Wedding Photojournalism as we like to call it as more run and gun style of shooting. You do not have the time to do any of the above unless you are doing a couple portrait shoot. You need to know what happens next and where it happens and position yourself before it happens, and still come up with brilliant pictures. It takes a lot of practice to gauge the light and change the camera settings without even looking at the camera many-a-times. You need to know your equipment in and out. You need to know when to use the right lens and the working distance of each lens.
Couple chemistry is a different ball game altogether. It rarely matters if it is an arranged marriage or a love marriage because people are always conscious in front of the camera. It is very important to talk to the couple, get to know them and build a good rapport with them. This takes the awkwardness out of the equation and the shoot becomes easier.

Wedamor – Which aspect of your work excites you the most?
Knots & Vows – Photography of course. That will always be the first and foremost exciting part. But adding to it meeting new people, building relations, traveling, experiencing new cultures makes it a complete experience.
Wedamor – How has the journey been so far and what are your future plans?
Knots & Vows – The journey has been spectacular and Knots & Vows has been growing steadily over the years. We intend to keep up the growth and maintain the position. Knots & Vows has become a brand today. We also are working on some other video related projects, the details of which we will be divulging as soon as the time is right.

Love Marriage vs Arranged Marriage-The Debate
Marriage is a holy institution, and as is the case with all holy institutions, it is plagued with some very unholy components. Here we have, amongst others, a never-ending listless duel between arranged and love marriages that threaten to destroy each other! And we can’t-do anything except for comparing the two. Presenting thereby the debate- love marriage vs arranged marriage!
Getting Into Perspective
It is important to understand that although love marriage vs arranged marriage has been one of those unending debates, ultimately, both of these underlie the same concept, they are just different approaches to a common destination, which is ensuring a successful relationship between two married individuals. And while an arranged marriage can be taken as a slightly longer-term perspective, the other is based on a quicker and a more emotionally driven choice.
The Marriage of Families
As it is rightly said, a marriage isn’t a two-people affair. It is both a cause and consequence of two families coming together and intertwining into each other, with or without emotion. The situation is even more amplified in a conservative backdrop such as in India. Obviously, an arranged marriage facilitates this smoothly, as this is basic idea it propagates per se. On the other hand, familial pressure and distaste are why many love marriages do not blossom or even materialize in the first place.

The Concept of Love
Dr. Robert Epstein from Harvard writes, “The idea is we must not leave our love lives to chance. We plan our education, our careers, and our finances but we’re still uncomfortable with the idea that we should plan our love lives. I do not advocate arranged marriages but I think a lot can be learned from them.” I absolutely ‘love’ this idea.
Love is a pure emotion, but it isn’t just about the emotion. It comes with a lot of consequences; of which I’ll talk about in the following few points.
The Socio-Economic POV
Arranged marriages are simple. Proper matchmaking ensures compatibility of individuals and families from the social as well as economic perspectives. This keeps materialistic differences aside and gives way to long-term stability. Such an objective kind of matchmaking has both its sides. The contrary view against arranged marriages is that they are forceful. There is an inherent pressure that creeps in, a pressure to sustain to make things work. Also, there is the claim that similarities in social and economic standing are not enough to give what it takes, which is perfectly true.
Some Statistics
The same Dr. Epstein claims to have conducted surveys on a significant number of people so as to incorporate all views and notions. According to his suggestions, feelings of love in love marriages begin to fade after the first 18 months; before gradually corroding and dying away as time passes by. On the flipside, in arranged marriages, mutual love grows with time. It surpasses the love in love marriages at near to the five-year mark! And while this mathematical model is hard to believe, he also goes on to assert that the feelings of love and affection are twice as strong as love marriages by the ten-year mark. We might choose to deny the numbers, but the survey does enough to give us an essence of trends and a quantitative perspective of ‘love marriage vs arranged marriage.’

Bottomline
Rather than declaring one of the two as victorious, it is better and more fruitful for us admit that both of these methods have positive and negative facets which should be respected. Both of these deserve to be studied in isolation. What is fundamental the diseases of our society, gender bias and discrimination, forceful marriages, having to treat the husband as ‘God’, and others be kept as removed as can be pre- and post-marriages.
Otherwise, the love marriage vs arranged marriage is not one of those debates that die down easily.

ban of 500 and 1000 rupee notes, demonetisation, effect on Indian weddings, Indian Wedding Season, note ban 0
Effect of Demonetisation on Indian Weddings
Weddings in India are always known to be grand, lasting an average of about three days. A lot of time, effort and money are burnt out to make a wedding people would never forget. The wedding industry in India was pegged at more than 1,00,000 crores in 2015 with the estimated growth of 25%-30% annually. However, with the demonetization of the 500 and 1000 rupee notes issued in the month of November, there has been a temporary shortage of in hand cash in the country. The grand wedding of a couple’s dreams has now turned into a colorless nightmare. Grand plans that may have been decided months in advance are now futile and pointless. So considering the ongoing wedding season, let’s discuss the effect of demonetization on Indian weddings.
Effect of Demonetisation on Indian Weddings
Effect on Couples
People generally spend lavishly on weddings. So, with the ban of the 500 and 1000 rupee notes by the government, the situation has worsened, making preparations and planning a lot harder due to difficulty in making a payment. Most of the vendors in India deal in cash, and even the banquet halls, wedding farms are finding it difficult to work without cash at the lower level.
It is impractical for those with upcoming weddings to wait in long queues for hours to get a few bucks, even getting that money is not certain. Cheques are also out of the scene as no once wants to go to the bank. Payment through credit/debit card is a possibility, but vendors, especially small ones, accepting this mode of payments are rare.
People does not have time to stand in a queue for an amount that may not make much difference. Due to this, people are cutting down/limiting their wedding plans, booking, invitations to accommodate the feasibility of their available budget.
There have been a few cases wherein the bride in her full wedding attire has visited the bank personally demanding the cash withdrawal.
Effect on the Wedding Industry and Vendors
Not only are the to-be-weds and their families facing the effect of demonetization but also the vendors who are facing heat and many are already suffering from huge losses due to lack of wedding orders.
Recommended Read: Demonetisation – The long and short of it
According to Shreyas Kitta, owner of the Anupam Decorators, says that the business is down by 80 percent since demonetization came into the picture.
The wedding season is the time of the year when these vendors do most of their business. Normally a time period of one month is given to pay the advance, but nowadays it is not possible for this as well. Due to the demonetization, customers are working on a smaller budget as a result of which vendors are losing out on their business. Also, many vendors have outsourced labors who work on daily wages and due to lack of cash, they are facing heat now.
RBI Relief
The Reserve Bank of India has given some relief keeping in mind, the ongoing marriage season but with they do have a bunch of restrictions to follow which again doesn’t seem to offer much help.
Withdrawal Rules:
-
Only the bride or groom or parents of either the bride or the groom are allowed to withdraw cash of up to 2.5 lakhs.
-
Withdrawal is done only from the credit balance on November 8th.
-
An application consisting of the certain details must be submitted including the name of the bride, name of the groom, identity proof of the bride, identity proof of the groom, the address of the bride, the address of the groom, the date of marriage and a copy of the wedding invitation card.
-
Cash payments are to be done only to those vendors who are not having a bank account.
-
The names of those people and services rendered in exchange for cash must be mentioned.
Weddings are once in a lifetime event and hence the effect of demonitisation on Indian weddings is huge as parents and couples have no clue what to do. Many are settling for cheaper things than their initial plans and some have already decided to postpone it.
The once grand, big, fat Indian weddings are turning out mere simple ceremonies.

Latest Trends in Wedding Cakes This Season
A wedding cake is one of the most important parts of the wedding function, especially in western countries. In some parts of England, the wedding cake is served at the wedding breakfast, note that the ‘wedding breakfast’ does not mean the meal will be held in the morning hours but at a time following the ceremony on the very same day. In modern Western culture, the cake is usually on display and served to guests who are present at the reception.
Traditionally, the wedding cakes were made to bring about good luck to all guests and the couples. However, nowadays they are more of a centrepiece to the wedding and are not always even served to the guests present at the ceremony. Some cakes are built with only a single edible tier for the bride and groom to share, while others are built in various layers.

Historical Accounts of Wedding Cakes
The contemporary wedding cake has grown out of the several different ethnic traditions. One of the first traditions began in the Ancient Rome region where the bread was broken over the bride’s head in order to bring good fortune to the married couple. In the Medieval England, cakes were stacked as high as possible for the bride and groom to kiss over. A successful kiss meant that they were guaranteed a happy, healthy and prosperous life together.

Types of Wedding Cakes
There are different types of wedding cakes, such as the traditional wedding cakes, the wedding cakes based on flavour, smaller cakes or the individual cakes, the yummy frosted cakes, and the everlasting tasty cupcakes.
Traditional wedding cakes are usually white, including the decoration and icing varieties such as buttercream, cashews, almond etc. Wedding cakes that are based on flavour include chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. Smaller cakes or individual cakes can be more significantly efficient in terms of price. The frosted cakes are the most popular category simply due to the very reason that it involves loads of cream.
In the modern day society, the most popular wedding cake is called “Traditional stack cake.” This consists of various layers of tiers– which can even be of different flavors– positioned directly on top of the last”.
The beautiful traditional stack wedding cake is similar to the very tiered cake. Often they are filled with pretty flowers or columns to add the most needed visual impact and height. The separators can include a variety of jewels, shells, and even flowers or can even be completely separated by using the traditional chrome stands.
The white cake is currently amongst the most traditional wedding cake, but the different flavours of filling can be added in-between the various layers. The chocolate, carrot, Italian Rum and Italian Cream are also amongst the popular choices.
Frosting can be that of a classic smooth surface or even combined with drizzle, swirls, or chips.
A fondant is a creative form of frosting style that is rolled out and draped over the various tiers. It’s smooth, firm and delicious sugar icing is often embellished with appliqués, even with gum-paste flowers, or the most desired royal-icing details.
Fondant can even be cut into designs, formed into various shapes, flavoured or even tinted. Poured fondant is used to glaze the various petits fours and other detailed confections. Such fondant gives a glossy finish and touch to a sweet sugary taste.
The royal icing is made with the use of sugar and egg white or even the meringue powder. It hardens to a firm finish that can be easily piped or thinned for the “flood work.” It hardens extremely fast and is ideal for the making of a detailed shape ahead of time. It can also be easily piped directly onto cake tiers and it works beautifully for delicate pieces of work.
In some areas, particularly in the American South, two cakes are presented at the weddings. The more traditional tiered cake is the Bride’s Cake, and a second flavour choice is called the “Groom’s Cake.” This tradition was brought over from England by the early American colonists, who had considered the white-iced “Bride’s Cake” too light for their masculinity. The groom’s cake was usually a dark, liquor-soaked fruitcake, particularly in the Virginia area.

Right Time to Get Married: Society vs Us
Living in a country like India, odds are that if you’re in your 20s, you’re constantly being pressured by your family and relatives (unless you’re one of the lucky few) to start your own life because they think it’s the ‘ right time to get married ‘.
But what does this ‘right time’ even mean? We’re living in a country where society is God. We can’t do without it, we’re afraid of it if we don’t follow the given ‘rules’ of it, and you are what the society thinks you are.
So, for a girl, the society thinks the right time to get married (here in India) should be anywhere between 21 to 24. That’s the ideal age. If you’re 26 and especially a girl, society is already talking about how there’s something wrong with you that you’re not married yet. You can probably picture a bunch of aunties in their fake ‘Loo-is Vee-ton’ with tacky and abominable taste in clothes gossiping over a pitcher of Roohafza. Aunties like that are useless like a penny with a hole in it and they want you to join that league.
Now, coming back to the point: Society’s ‘ right time to get married ’ can come kiss my ass as I lay out some arguments about how the right time is only when YOU think that it is.
1) Have You Achieved Your Dreams?
Have you? Your parents and relatives are probably telling you that once you get married, you can continue with whatever it is then. Don’t fall for it cos it’s a goddamn trap.
Also, I’m particularly talking about women here cos they’re the victims when it comes to such things. The guys have to work according to the rules of society, right? And the girls should probably soak themselves in household chores, take responsibility for the whole family and maybe for a little fun, she can watch some TV serials. Yes, for ‘fun’.
There are very few families who want their pyaari bahu to actually work hard and go for her dreams. Even if they won’t make you do the maid work, you have a lot of responsibilities coming your way which can make working for your dreams just overwhelming. Who’s to say you’ll even get time for it?
The point here is, if you’ve just started working and you’re not quite there in terms your career, do yourself a nice big favour and don’t think about getting married instead think about the ‘ right time to get married ‘. It’s a different thing if you’re well settled. If that’s the case, happy marrying!
2) Baby Baby Baby
Let’s say your Sasural wale guys are pretty wonderful and they are fully supporting your dreams and career (although I personally haven’t seen such people), maybe they’ll do that for a year, two years but then.. it all comes down to starting a family in the end. That’s what our parents live for. Indirectly they’ll have you know that now they want a grandbaby, please start trying now.
And life after a baby? Wonderful, yes. Beautiful, yes. Poop-filling, yes. Cuteness overload, yes yes yes. But career dreams for mommy? Nope.
This is not to say that it’ll be over 100% but you probably won’t be as focused then. And again, if you’re well-settled by then, then it’s no biggie! Happy baby-ing! (Sorry, I’m weird with such things)

3) Kick the Society With its Taboos in the Bum
Hi, hello! Hear me out when I say: Do not let age become a factor. I repeat, do NOT let age become a factor!
30 and single is perfectly fine and is completely and one hundred percent your decision. It’s your life and you are the only one who has the power to decide when, how and to with whom you have to find the ‘ right time to get married ‘. If you’re focusing on growing yourself, succeeding in life and actually doing something incredible with your life, you go ahead and keep doing that. All my good thoughts and hugs coming your way! Oh and, if nobody told you already, you’re amazing for being so brave and taking a stand for yourself. So very proud of you!
But our mighty society is Regina George from Mean girls and is going to try making your life miserable with all the comments, taunts, and what-not. But you have to remember that it can only affect you if you let it. And please, don’t let it.
4) This isn’t About Being a Rebel
Doing something for yourself, while others are busy pressuring you to do the opposite thing is not something you need to doubt is right or not. And you don’t have to justify yourself to anyone even if it’s your family.
A marriage is beautiful in its own way, but when you’re not ready for it, it can turn into a lifelong regret. We’re humans. We need our freedom. We have all the rights to decide when we should get married. Don’t let others, even your parents take that right away from you.
There’s no such thing as wrong time or a right time to get married, it’s all about the ‘happy time’ to get married.
Dream a lot, and dream big. HAPPY SUCCESS-ING!
