About Wedamor

Wedamor is a wedding planning application aimed at the overgrowing and largely unorganised wedding planning market. With the advent of technology, higher disposable incomes and a need for customized weddings on the rise, an opportunity is very evident for online wedding planners who can provide the services at a fraction of the costs which a traditional wedding planner charges.

Our team is a mix of experience and youth, which helps us to be very nimble and at the same time have a long term vision. We have clarity of the kind of a product we want to build and experience to guide us to work tirelessly towards the vision, without losing focus.

With the coming of Indian Couture week, Sabyasachi has presented teasers of yet another mystical collection titled into various themes: ‘The Gulkand Collection’, ‘Devi Collection’, ‘The Heritage Collection’, ‘The Baroda collection’ and ‘Couture Bridal’. Being the leading bridal designer of the country, Sabyasachi never fails to impress and with each new collection, he just keeps getting better. The aura surrounding the theme and intricate works of his masterpieces makes you instantly fall in love with them. Love, at first sight, is real, guys. Just open his Instagram account and see for yourself, if you haven’t already.

The collection includes Kanjeevaram tissue saris implicative of Raja Ravi Verma paintings. More so, there is also a fine JEWELLERY LINE which is divided into Heritage jewellery (inspired by jewellery of Colonial India), Fine jewellery (gemstones and diamonds), Jadau Jewellery and Men’s Jewellery. On being asked about his new endeavours, Sabyasachi comments, “When women wear my clothes, I invariably expect them to pair it with that kind of jewellery. But, I don’t find it here anymore. Perhaps it was this question that pushed me to find the answer”.

On unravelling his latest Autumn/Winter collection, Sabya says, “Growing up, I spent hours rummaging through my mother and grandmothers’ jewellery cupboards. Their taste was simply exquisite. Perhaps, this is why I feel disappointed. Where has all the art gone?”

The Gulkand Collection

My favourite being The Gulkand collection and in the words of the man himself (or whoever operates the Instagram account), ‘This collection borrows heavily from hedonism and decadence. Drying rose petals, Gulkand, kishmish (raisins), cardamom, zarda, and pomegranate set the mood and colour palette. Deep brooding burgundy and russet over layered with antiquated zardosi, semi-precious stones and pearls from the basis of these baroque bridal wear lehengas’

More words on the collection, “Rose petals soaked in sugar syrup, dried in the afternoon sun. Pistachio and Cardamom laced with gold leaf. Saffron wrapped in silver. Anjeer and Elaichi scattered with pearls. Pomegranates staining my reverie. “

The Noor LehengaAs the Instagram content goes, “Exotic birds, tropical flowers and surreal vegetation form the basis of this extremely indulgent bridal lehenga. Appliques of hand-dyed velvet, tea stained pearls, semi-precious stones, vintage crystals, silk floss and bleached and over-dyed cotton threads come alive in the hands of our master craftsmen. 44 people have toiled over 2 months and 3700 hours to create this modern Mogul heirloom. A neo-vintage Polki set fashioned out of uncut Diamonds, yellow and pink Sapphires, Emeralds and Tourmalines complement this ensemble.”

The Gwalior Lehenga“Perhaps the finest qality of zardosi. Rendered by our most skilled craftsmen. In silver and gold. On deep burgundy velvet. Royal crests, carved wrought iron, brocade patterns and Mogul etchings all come together seamlessly with bullion, pearls, silk floss and baroque pearls holding them together. Best paired with a traditional Polki wedding jewellery set from the House of Sabyasachi.”

The Roshanara Lehenga“In colours of gulkand, cardamom, pistachio and pomegranate. Rendered with the finest quality zardosi, taari ka kaam and velvet applique. Complimented by deep teal and Iranian Turquoise sherwanis in gold and silver hand beaten aari.”

The Devi Collection

The Devi Collection offers an insight into the “intricate aari, zardosi and applied techniques dexterously applied on Kumkum red raw silk. This bridal ensemble is paired with polka jewellery set in 22k gold from the new Sabyasachi jewellery collection.”

For the groom, This Sabyasachi classic Ivory textured silk sherwani with silk churidar and Kota safa works wonders. According to the legend, men look their best in the wedding when they’re wearing ivory and especially when the bride is wearing red. And we couldn’t agree more…

The Heritage Collection

The colour of the season, A reddish coffee (laung), is strong, warm and primal; and this new heritage collection uses silk matkas and raw silks in the laung colour way and embellishes them with hand beaten gold and silver aari.

This illogically beautiful Coromandel red silk matka saree is supposed to be the one item that Sabyasachi revisits every season. “It is full bodied, strong, brooding, intense and full of character. You can dress it up or dress it down. Its severity makes it stand apart.”

“I like the juxtaposition of two opposites. Rustic organic India converging with classic Victorian. The laung silk matka sari worn with a heritage borla and a stack of Victorian diamond bracelets. Ethnic wear for the global nomad.”
